Another STABILO Mega-Store - Artist & Display in Milwaukee, WI

Actually, Artist & Display in Milwaukee, WI is the ORIGINAL STABILO mega-store in the US! About a year ago they put up a giant STABILO "Planet 3000" display - a huge STABILO red structure that almost looks like a playground set of some sort, except it houses all kinds of STABILO products.

Owners Jack and Lynn Klein and creative director Nora Hackenberg (Lynn and Nora are pictured above with their staff in custom Point 88 t-shirts in front of the display) have been STABILO lovers and supporters for some time now, and were really excited to be the first store in the United States to have this mega-display. To celebrate the new display, last October they held "STABILOfest" - a month of creative and fun activities revolving around STABILO products. Some of the highlights from the events included the making of STABILO shrinky-dink people, a giant mosaic made out of 843 pieces of paper squares, and even school kids singing a special STABILO song they wrote! Lynn and Nora have even been known to make STABILO jewelery.

Artist & Display even made a video for Youtube chronicling all the STABILOfest activities, which you check out with this link;

A year later, STABILO is still going strong in their store - they offer a ton products like Point 88, Point Visco, Pen 68, CarbOthello, the GREENlighter dry highlighters, the GREENcolors & GREENgraph pencils, Bionic Worker pens, ALL STABILO pencils, Sensor pens, Easy Ergo pencils, Woody pencils, and much more!

Flax San Francisco Becoming a STABILO Mega-store!

OK, well the whole store won't quite be STABILO, but this week Flax Art & Design in San Francisco, CA (http://www.flaxart.com/) will become the first retailer in the United States to have their very own STABILO Active Shop!

This 2-tower display will hold a ton of cool STABILO stuff. Here's a sneak peak at what's gonna be in there:

Point Visco pens
CarbOthello pencils
Write 4 All pens
Sensor pens
Pen 68 markers
Point 88 fineliners
BOSS highlighters
Easy Ergo pencils
ALL STABILO pencils
Woody 3 in 1 pencils
Power markers
GREENlighter - FSC dry highlighters
GREENgraph - FSC graphite pencils
GREENcolors - FSC colored pencils

This is definitely one hearty selection of STABILO.

We'll be setting up the display this week and I'll be updating the blog after it's up and ready to go!
We'll also be celebrating with Flax for this special occasion of being the first in the US to have the STABILO Active Shop by holding a STABILO event later this year. I'll be posting that as well once it's determined.

STABILO Is Hot at the University of Oregon!

Word on the Oregon streets is that University of Oregon students love STABILO! So much so in fact, that the Duckstore (the school bookstore) made a cool custom window display to celebrate the arrival of a new STABILO display in their store.

I asked the store staff what they liked most about STABILO. They said they really liked the good German quality and stylish design of the products - and style matters to their students! They also liked that a lot of the products are more ergonomic and more unique than the standard, non-exciting pens and pencils you find in the big box stores.

As far as what products are most popular with the students, it looks like Point 88 and Pen 68 are the winners. But that wasn't it. Staff members Christopher and Rachel said, "The Stabilo Green line appeals to North West customers. Big draw as environmental issues become more mainstream." They also professed love for the Woody pencils and new dry highlighters!

Nice to see the STABILO love spreading out there!

Kids Gone Wild for STABILO at Flax Kidsfest!

Kids descended upon Flax Art & Design by the HUNDREDS this past Saturday for a day of artistic discovery! Most of them made it to the STABILO table where they grabbed up Point 88 and Pen 68 pens, CarbOthello and Woody pencils and went crazy making artist trading cards on Strathmore ATC papers. It wasn't just the kids who got in on the fun, the parents were right there up in the mix trying different products and indulging their artistic imaginations. Not surprisingly, the big hits of the day were the Point 88 pens and Woody 3 in 1 pencils.

HOT Deals and HOT Temperatures at Rileystreet!

The 98 degree temperature didn't keep hundreds of customers from making it over to the 41st Anniversary Sale and 12th annual Demo Day event at Rileystreet Art Supplies in Santa Rosa, CA last Saturday!

In a sea of white tents that housed over 30 art supply vendors, our red STABILO tent caught the eyes and interests of many of the attendees. We were able to collect several pages worth of new artist trading cards that attendees made to help fill up the new album. Favorite products of the day were the Point 88 fineliner and the Woody 3 in 1 pencils.

Check out the pictures from the event here:

STABILO Hearts of Thanks!

Yesterday I was handed a little envelope with a big surprise in it - 10 handmade heart cards decorated with STABILO and carrying words of thanks!

I had met a very nice art materials enthusiast at one of the recent STABILO demos I did, and as we kept in contact, I learned she was a member of several artist groups who focus on different themes. I sent her a little sample package of STABILO products that I thought would be appropriate for the different groups, including Point 88, CarbOthello, and Woody. She took the samples and made cute little gift bags with them to hand out to the group members. It was a very gratifying surprise to receive the thank you hearts back that had been decorated with those same STABILO samples. It was clear that everyone was enjoying trying them and discovering their own new favorite!

Are you a member of an artist group that would like to explore the world of STABILO? Feel free to email me and tell me about your group and what kind of art you do, and I'd be happy to send some appropriate samples for trial (offer is for the US only)!

STABILO Point 88 Hits Web 2.0 Marketing Class!

Tonight I had the chance to do one of my favorite things - spread the STABILO love!

I passed out samples of the STABILO Point 88 pen to classmates in my Web 2.0 Marketing class (the first class of it's kind in the US!). I was shedding tears of STABILO joy as I saw the retro orange barrel with white stripes in everyone's hands. After giving the class a little background on STABILO, I finished by saying how I noticed that everyone who picks up this pen loves it. As I headed back to my seat, my classmate Idyll opened the card that held the pen and with surprise and joy she said, "I do love this pen!".

Wanting to know why she loves it, I asked her about it after class. Idyll explained that she used to have all the colors in Point 88, and that she loves it because it's easy to hold and actually makes her handwriting look better. Who wouldn't love a pen that makes their handwriting look better? That practically makes it like a magic pen in my book!

After class, there were several extra samples left over which were eagerly swooped up by those who wanted seconds on the way out. I hope the rest of my classmates who met Point 88 for the first time tonight enjoy it as much as Idyll and I do!
