STABILO Dry Highlighter - GREENlighter!

I have to be honest, one of the new STABILO products that surprised me the most this year was the GREENlighter - a dry highlighter pencil that's part of the new GREEN range of product. Basically, it's a thick pencil that's used as a highlighter. STABILO used to make the BOSS dry highlighter pencil, but discontinued it several years ago. I was fortunate to have one of the old BOSS dry highlighters and LOVED it, which is why all that remains now is a little nub of it in my desk drawer. So when I found out STABILO was reviving the dry highlighter as part of their GREEN range, I got excited.

What surprised me was that there are others out there that felt the same way I did! When talking to STABILO lovers about it, I found there were other people out there who missed the BOSS dry highlighter and have actually been looking for it since it disappeared. Now it's been reincarnated as an eco-friendly version in three colors!

So here's the lowdown on the GREENlighter - it has a triangular shape making it more ergonomic to hold, and it's also thicker than a normal pencil. The wood is 100% FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood and is coated with an eco-friendly matte finish. It comes in three colors; yellow, green, and pink.

If you want to know where to find the STABILO GREENlighter, feel free to email me at:

  1. Yahooo! The BOSS highlighter was the only one I could use in my Bible. Been looking for a WHILE. Glad to see a dry highlighter back.

  2. how to you sharpen it when it's so thick?

  3. You can use an Exacto knife, or there are special larger sharpeners that can fit it, like this one from Mobius & Ruppert:

  4. Thanks for the info ! I also loved the "old" Dry highter. But is the new "green" ones of the same quality ? That is, the verses that I highlighted actually becomes clearer. Other brands of highlighter spoils my bible as they leave an opaque layer.

I have been hunting, unsuccesfully for the "old" one. That's why I used mine until the last stub.

  6. I'm from the Philippines. Just want to tell you that I've preserved my worn Stabilo dry highlighters; I thought I might lose them forever, so I kept them as a way to tell others that there is such a "dry" highlighter after all.

Hope the new Stabilo dry can be sold in our country soon!

  7. I can't believe it...finally found someone who knows what I'm looking for. I, like many of you have the green Boss highlighter and nearly lost my lid when I misplaced it a few weeks ago. I refuse to use it all up because it is one of the BEST highlighters on the market, and can't be replaced. I use it for my Bible, and I agree the others just smear or tear my pages. Please let me know what stores carry them so I can purchase a new set. email me at funeegirl@sbcglobal.net
